It Is Time to Clean House—Begin With Me, Lord
Today’s Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10:31; Galatians 6:7
Key Verse: Galatians 6:7
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
I do not care how wonderful your church’s service or prayer meeting is—it means nothing if the risen King of glory does not rule in your home.
Across the land, millions of nicely dressed people file into church buildings for a time of organized worship. Then they march back to their cars and return to hell at home where husbands beat their wives behind closed doors, where parents do unspeakable things to their children or browbeat them until their personalities are permanently warped.
One week later, the bruised are healed or concealed, the tears are dried, and the children firmly warned to keep their mouths shut before the fractured families of the kingdom make their way to repeat their religious facade. Is something wrong with this picture?
Fair or not, God gave the male the greatest responsibility for keeping His covenant and preserving the covenant of the family. Yet some of the men of the kingdom, individuals God appointed to provide for and protect the family, have become their family’s most feared predator and abuser! God’s Word says: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
Nothing justifies abuse of any kind against God’s chosen ones. Mister, the woman you battered last night belonged to God before she ever met you, and she will belong to God long after you breathe your last breath. He remembers every blow and evil word you speak against His daughter. Vengeance belongs to God, and you can never escape His hand. Seek the help you need, but do not give any excuses. Just repent and change your ways before God shortens your days.
The same warning goes to any parent who dares to touch God’s children. The Bible literally says, “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 18:10 nkjv). Believe it and live. Repent and sin no more.
Heavenly Father, forgive me, for I have sinned against You and those I love. Cleanse me and set me free to be the person you ordained me to be. Preserve my family in Jesus’ name, amen.
