Drop the Prime-Time Hypocrisy or Become Its Victim
Today’s Scripture Reading: : Matthew 7:1–5
Key Verse: Matthew 7:2
With what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
This statement of Jesus is deadly serious. This is about an eternal judgment, and it applies directly to this nation. God is telling America, “I am going to do the same thing to you that you do to others.”
America seems to thrive on the prime-time hypocrisy. There is no way in the world that I would want the private details of my life with my wife and family members broadcast on the Internet. I would not want my daily successes and mistakes discussed and analyzed on the evening news either, yet that is exactly what we do to government leaders and national celebrities.
Aren’t you glad that God has not posted your mistakes and sins on the Internet or supplied color clips for the network news so the world could examine and judge you? I am thankful that God covers us in the blood.
With what measure we give, we will receive. With the judgment we judge, we will be judged. America’s dirty laundry is about to go prime time unless we repent and change our ways as a nation. We can begin to make a difference by doing the right thing, saying the right thing, and reacting to the sins, mistakes, and failures of others God’s way.
Heavenly Father, I am determined to forgive others as You have freely forgiven me. Lord Jesus, I want to reach out to the unlovely and rejected in the same way You did during Your time on earth. I want to patiently work with others, even when they fail again and again—just as the Holy Spirit has worked with me in such grace and mercy. Freely I have received; now freely I will give.
