Only Genuine Light Can Cut Through Darkness

Today’s Scripture Reading: Galatians 1:8–11; John 10:1–2
Key Verse: Galatians 1:9

As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

The problem of “other gospels” is not new to the kingdom of God. Many of the apostles’ letters to the early churches warned Christians about the dangers of false teaching. The apostle Paul was concerned about the church in Galatia because its members had developed a taste for “pleasing preaching.” He wrote, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ. But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man” (Gal. 1:10–11 nkjv).

“Pleasing preaching” floods our world today. Countless numbers of people are preaching “another gospel” in the name of Christ, but their attractive words do not enlarge the kingdom. The true gospel convicts of sin before it frees people from sin. The false gospel encourages people to sneak into the kingdom by bypassing repentance and total surrender to the King of the kingdom. Jesus predicted it would happen. He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep” (John 10:1–2 nkjv).

Thousands of “other gospel” preachers and teachers are lining up to please you and fleece you. Avoid them the way you would avoid a plague because God has cursed them. Find a shepherd and pastor who preaches the truth of the genuine gospel, no matter how much it hurts. If you are called to preach, make sure you preach the truth and not a lie.

Pray this prayer with me:

Today’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, even with all the noise I hear on religious television and radio, I can still hear Your voice. I can recogni e the gentle voice of my Shepherd even on my worst days and in the most difficult of circumstances. I thank You for that, Lord. Help me do my part to shine Your light on the confusion and darkness being broadcast in the name of popularity. Make the light You placed in my life shine on all those I meet so they will know the genuine truth and be set free indeed. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
