He Loved Children

Teach Your Children Now

Today’s Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 4:6–10, 40
Key Verse: Deuteronomy 4:40

You shall therefore keep His statutes and His commandments which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which the Lord your God is giving you for all time.

The book of Deuteronomy is full of admonishments to fathers and parents to train their children while they are young.

Do you tell your children stories about your extended family? What do they know about your family’s heritage? I hope you realize that the public school and the church can never teach your children what you should be teaching them.

Search the Scriptures and discover the truths God says are vital for them to learn at an early age. Teach them about Jesus Christ. Show them how He handled Himself when people challenged Him for doing the right thing. Show them how much He loved children, and point out that He rebuked the disciples when they tried to keep children away from Him. Tell them about the cross and make sure they know that Jesus died for them. Teach the kingdom truths about true wealth and the dangers of the love of money.

If you teach your children now, they will be a blessing to you all your days. Even better, they will be equipped to raise their children in the same way, but with even greater wisdom and kingdom wealth. Above all, do not wait until a more convenient time. It will never come. Just begin to obey God now, so you can reap His blessings.

Today’s Prayer:

Holy Father, I hear Your voice through the Word, and I will obey. It is time for me to begin teaching my children today. No matter how inconvenient or difficult it may be, I will press through and teach them anyway because our generations depend upon it. In Jesus’ name, amen.
