Yesterday, Today, & FOREVER The King of Pop

my thoughts tonight

I could be wrong, but it seems to me that a lot of the love songs that Michael writes and sings are really songs unto the Lord, like “You are my Life”, for example.  Maybe it’s just me, but that’s what I hear.

It’s not just Michael either, I feel that about several other artists as well, both male and female.  If that is in fact the case, I wonder why they don’t just say it, boldly, instead of making it seem like they’re singing to a human lover.  Yes, part of art is leaving it open to interpretation…I’m just expressing my feelings.

Make it PLAIN…sing a new song unto the Lord…ain’t no shame in it.

Maybe I’m wrong and they really are songs about romantic love and I know that Michael does mention God and the Lord in several of his songs.

That song in particular would be a really good one to sing to the Lord though.

So would One More Chance with some minor tweaking, like replacing the lyrics “hold on” with “oh Lord”.  That’s what it sounds like to me anyway, and that’s what I say when I sing it!

Some of the lyrics in love songs insinuate that there are things that another human can do for us that really, only God can do.
Just my thoughts…
