Do Not Pull the Plug on God’s Power!

From Called to Conquer by Bishop Eddie Long

Scripture
Reading: 2 Corinthians 1:20; Galatians 3:13–14; Hebrews 8:6–13
Key Verse: : Galatians 3:13–14

Christ
has redeemed us from the curse of the law . . . that the blessing of Abraham
might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise
of the Spirit through faith.

The church has a
serious problem: the devil is beating up its members as if the supernatural
event at the cross never took place! What is wrong with this picture? The
problem is that the church has been taught another gospel that is based on
man’s wants instead of upon God’s covenants. Ignorance of God’s covenants sets
you up for a rough time with the enemy.

When you do not know who you are, what you have in Christ and why, you tend to
say, “The devil is doing it again . . . He got me down again.” All the while,
the devil says, “Go ahead and lift me up. Exalt me. Whatever you think I can
do, I will do. Whatever evil tidings you allow yourself to receive, I will give
to you. Go ahead and think that I have you bound. Go ahead and forget what
Jesus came for. Forget that He said He had all power, and He will not—at least,
in your life.”

The truth is that we pull the plug on the power of Jesus Christ when we do not
allow His power to reign in us. We run around like little pain-suckers
searching for the most popular preacher. We want him to preach to our pain,
grease us with oil, and send us away with the pronouncement that we are
delivered. The sad part is that he does not tell you that if you feed your
flesh and refuse to repent, then you cannot be delivered. That is why so many
people run out of such meetings thinking they are delivered when they are not.

Do not be deceived. Remember what Jesus came for and put the devil under your
feet where he belongs. It is part of your covenant with the Creator, the
heavenly Father.

Heavenly
Father, I am plugging in to the promises I received through Jesus Your Son. I
receive the promise of provision, protection, and Your abiding presence. I
receive the call to be separate and set aside for You alone. I receive
membership in Your kingdom and Your royal family, complete with its blessings
and its responsibilities. Now I am seated with Christ, and His enemies are our
footstool!
