Be Strong and Very Courageous
from Called to Conquer by Bishop Eddie Long
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 29:25; Acts 9:26–29; Joshua 1:6–7
Key Verse: Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.
Has God called you? Has He placed you before people? Then do not be afraid of them.
People do not scare me. When I go to a convention to preach, I go with the message God gives me. Sometimes preachers and host pastors get uptight when they see me coming because I do not necessarily say what they want to hear; I preach what God tells me to preach.
God will never place you before people to conform to their ways or ideas. He puts you there to transform them! You will confront demons that oppose your purpose for being there, but you have a kingdom agenda that must go forward.
The good news is that you do not have to walk in your own authority (you cannot anyway). God called, appointed, and anointed you to walk in His authority as His representative. Receive as your own the command God gave to Joshua just before he led Israel across the Jordan into the promised land: “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go” (Josh. 1:7 nkjv).
Now be bold and tackle great exploits in Jesus’ name!
Lord, I think I forgot about the need for courage in the Spirit-led life. You called me to do more than merely warm a pew. You called me to be a transformer, a courageous life-changer with the boldness to tell others the truth in love. Thank You for giving me Your strength, in Jesus name I pray, amen.
